EDUCATIONAL VISIT OF 1ST PROF. BAMS STUDENTS TO MANIPAL ANATOMY & PATHOLOGY MUSEUM AND SWAMI VIVEKANANDA PLANETERIUM & ZOO AT PILIKULA ON 15.12.2022

The MAP Museum was opened for publics in the year 1954. In the year 2012 it was renovated and reopened. This museum is one of the largest museums in Asia, containing around 3000 different specimens. The museum is divided into two main sections: Anatomy and Pathology. The anatomy section displays well preserved specimens of normal human body parts and organs in a manner that makes them easy to understand. Each organ system of the human body can be explored as a separate entity. Various craft, models and charts are also displayed.There is a section on comparative anatomy, where a large collection of animals, reptiles their skeleton, and bones are displayed. The museum of Pathology displays diseased body parts and organs. The section on life-style related diseases displays specimens of diseases that occur in humans.

         First professional BAMS (2021-22 batch) studentsof KVG Ayurveda Medical College and the three faculties, Dr.Vinaya Shankara Bharadwaj.B, Dr.Pratima Gupta and Dr.Anishma visited the Anatomy and Pathology Museum of Kasturba Medical college and hospital, Manipal, Udupi district on 15.12.2022.This educational visit was organized by the Dept.of Rachana shareera, KVG Ayurveda Medical College, Sullia.

        We reached Manipal at 10.30Am. We visited and observed the different specimens at the museum by which we could observe various coloured sections and different views of all the organs and systems of the body. By visiting the museum we also got an idea of preparation of the specimens. Going through the specimens of the pathology museum we learnt the congenital anomalies and pathological conditions of different organs and parts of the body.

        After having lunch at Manipal food court, at 02.45 pm we went to Dr.Shivarama Karantha Pilikula Nisargadhama, Pilikula, Mangalore. We reached Pilikula  around 04pm. First we visited the Pilikula Zoo and then at 05.50Pm we reached Swami Vivekananda 3D planetarium at Pilikula science centre. From 06pm to 06.45pm the 3D show was arranged for us in the Planeterium. Then we returned and reached KVG Ayurveda Medical college at 10.45pm.
