Charaka Jayanti was celebrated on 29th July 2025, on the auspicious occasion of Nagapanchami, organized by the Department of Samhita Siddhanta, KVG Ayurveda Medical College, Sullia. A series of events and activities were held to commemorate the contributions of Acharya Charaka and to promote the importance of Charaka Samhita among students and staff.
Dr.Leeladhar D.V, Principal, KVGAMC, inaugurated the program. The chief guest of the program was, Dr. Suchithra P. S., Professor & HOD, Department of Samhita Siddhanta, KAMC, Mangalore. Dr. Vishnukrishnan, Assistant Professor, Department of Samhita Siddhanta welcomed the gathering. Dr. Harshitha, Professor, RSBK and Student Welfare Officer, conveyed her wishes for the successful conduction of the program.
Dr. Sreeja, Professor and HOD, Department of Samhita Siddhanta, highlighted the significance of Charaka Jayanti, briefly discussing the life and contributions of Acharya Charaka and the importance of studying the Charaka Samhita.
Dr. Devika D. Shetty, Assistant Professor, introduced the chief guest, followed by talk by the chief guest, Dr. Suchithra P. S., Professor & HOD, Department of Samhita Siddhanta, KAMC, Mangalore.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Gopikrishnan, Assistant Professor, Department of Samhita Siddhanta.
The sloka recitation competition was arranged after the inaugural program, in four rounds, followed by a classical dance performance by Advika and team (1st year Prof BAMS). Charaka Samhita sloka chanting program was organised by department staff and students. A skit was presented based on Charaka Samhita eight sthanas.
In connection with Charaka Jayanti, a clay modelling for students and poster presentations for teachers were conducted a day prior to the main event.
The celebration concluded with the prize distribution for the winners of the clay modelling, E-poster, and Shloka recitation competitions.
